About the Event
The Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, father of the Pan African movement and National Hero, taught us that "Africa is for Africans at home and Abroad!". This teaching of Repatriation has been the basis and a tenant of the the Rastafari movement from its inception. In the year 1966 when Emperor Haile Selassie visited Jamaica and the Caribbean, he granted 500 hectares of land in Shashamane Ethiopia to the dispersed Africans in the Western Hemisphere to return home to the motherland.
Since the early 1970's the Twelve Tribe of Israel and other Rastafari Mansions have been focused on the business of Repatriation to Africa, and this has gradually developed into a significant settlement of Rastafari ones in Shashamane Ethiopia, the land granted to repatriates by His Majesty. We the second generation members of the TTI has been witness to the organization sending members to both visit and reside on the land…
